12.30.07 End of 2007 Survey

1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
I went on a jetski with Dave one weekend when we went to my house in LBI. Oh! Rode the NYC subway ALONE. As in, figured out where I needed to go on my own instead of hopping on the subway in with someone else who led the way. Dave also took me out on his boat. I have been on boats before, but not his. So that was awesome!

2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't really remember my resolutions. Probably to save money? I just looked in my entries from last year and I didn't appear to post any resolutions. I usually aim to save money. I guess I did. I mean, I just charged my last semester of education (ever, possibly?) to my card, and I have about enough to cover it when the bill comes in - so clearly I have been saving, but at the same time, as soon as I write that check, I won't have it anymore...

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Nope.

5. What countries did you visit?
USA, but I live here.

6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
A full time job. When I graduate in the spring, I want to find a 'real' job. I mean, I have a great part time job that is sufficient for my needs and lifestyle now, but man, imagine if I doubled my salary?? Wowee. haha

7. What date(s) from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Nothing in particular - but 2.14.07 was my two year anniversary with Dave and we were snowed in. That was fun. 9.12.83 was my 24th birthday!

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I completed my 2nd and 3rd semesters of FIT and recieved great grades. I also finished my internship for both my FIT and MSU degrees at different museums/art galleries.

9. What was your biggest failure?
No major failures, but there are some things that I wish would go better in life...

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I had a bad cold/flu type thing at the end of November, and bacterial vaginosis in the summer (TMI?)

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Hm. I buy a lot, so let me think about my favorite thing...I bought a really wonderful embroidered dress from Anthropologie, an FIT class ring that has not come in, 12 Anthropologie ornaments that are beautiful for my tree next year, Sabon bath salt body scrub in Lemon Mint (smells so good and I love using it!!), I think that's it. A lot of the other tihngs that I love were all gifts...

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My mother, sister, father and Dave...just 'cause

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
One comes to mind, but yeh...not gonna say.

14. Where did most of your money go?
FIT. Clearly. It hurts to write those checks. Besides that, a monthly association fee to my townhouse and Taxes for my townhouse 4xs a year.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Webkinz? haha. Being with Dave, vacations/holidays/special celebrations with Dave

16. What song will always remind you of 2007?
I don't really associate memories with music. So, no clue.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? happier, but I was still happy last year. In some ways, sadder cause I'm so close to graduating, and I will be enetering more of the 'real' world (even though I already work, go to school full time and have a townhouse), but still happy cause I'm looking forward to it. I'm at a really weird point in my life right now, I wonder what I will be doing next year.
ii. thinner or fatter? The same. Like exactly. Maybe a pound thinner?
iii. richer or poorer? Richer cause I've been working for another year than I was last year, but poorer cause I've paid for two more semesters of FIT and MSU graduate tuition. So. ultimately? I think it evens out and is the same.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Knitting! (Thanks Dara, I wish I did more knitting too! I think one of the few things I've made all year was a lion sweater for Bobby the boston terrier), painting, vacations!

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Hm. Not sure!

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Which Christmas? 2007 was spent with Dave and my family and Dave's family, we went to two church services in the days prior to/and Christmas, and we had a family dinner, opening gifts, etc.

22. Did you fall in love in 2007?
I was already in love with Dave, but I also added puppy Charley and I love him!

23. How many one-night stands?
Ha.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Notes from the Underbelly, What about Brian, Grey's Anatomy sorta, Dirty Sexy Money

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I really don't hate anyone, but some people do annoy me.

26. What was the best book you read?
I've read a lot, but they're all starting to blend...I didn't really love the Virgin Blue, I'm making my way through the Agatha Raisin series, I read Harry Potter I and plan on making my way through the rest...I read a lot of fashion books for FIT, but none were really the best...

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
My own music discovery? Well, I stopped taking singing lessons which is bad. I want to start up with the violin again.

28. What did you want and get?
Wow. That's broad. A puppy? Another great year in my relationship with my boyfriend, health for me and my family, the Coach bag I had wanted

29. What did you want and not get?
Hmph. I dunno.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Ratatouille

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I threw a birthday garden party at my parents' house with my friends and family, and I turned 24.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
If I had finished both MA degrees. But that will happen next year, presumably.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005?
I shop mostly at Anthropologie, Banana Republic, Juicy Couture. I wear Seven jeans, and fun shoes. The concept overall is um, I dunno. Not really trendy, but well made, interesting pieces that flatter my figure, silhouette and coloring.

34. What kept you sane?
Webkinz, freelance web design jobs, Dave, my mom, my family in general, shopping

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Johnny Depp, I guess.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Nada. I'm not really 'stirred' easily - and I just really don't want to go into politics on here.

37. Who did you miss?
No one particularly. Some of my friends I wish I saw more often.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
People who I worked with at the restaurant who made it fun, in NYC on my internship and my art gallery internship - it just made my work environment at each place fun and enjoyable.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007.
When in doubt, don't 'do' anything - as in, don't have confrontations, or make rash decisions. If you ask the question, or someone asks you the question "What are you going to do?" do NOTHING. Think about it. If you 'do' something stupid, you can't take it back. If you just chill out and mill it over in your head, your options are still open for how you will deal with the issue in the future.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
Again. I don't relate songs and music to memories, so none!

That was fun. Long but fun.

I'm super stressed. There are so many things that I should be doing, but I just can't seem to get them done. Instaed, I'm doing new year's surveys on my livejournal. I'm still wearing my leather jacket from when I came home about an hour and a half ago with my purple Burberry scarf. And I'm not hot.

I have web design edits to make, some laundry, and just some general LIFE organization. I'm starting to take an online fashion design class at FIT starting January 2nd, and I want to log into the system and familiarize myself with it, along with figuring out if I need to get any books. Which reminds me - today my mom and I went to pick up sandwiches to bring to the party, and we also went to Barnes and Noble because we both had gift certificates. I bought the Sweeney Todd CD with Johnny Depp. I want to go to see the movie - Dave and I are planning on doing so in the next week.

This year was pretty much the suck in some ways, but wonderful in others. There was one point during the year where I was a complete mess, but I don't really talk about that kind of stuff on here. All is well now though. My family has been healthy and wonderful. I have a great realtionship with Dave, and we are looking forward to our 3 year anniversary on Valentine's Day in 2008. I went to some great places - Dave and I had nice weekend vacations in LBI, we went to a water park, I took another Little in my sorority, I got another puppy - Charley, my great aunt now lives next door and I have been helping her move in, I finished my 2nd and 3rd semesters at FIT, I have 3.0 more credits for my MSU MA degree, I have made many garments sewing - which I LOVE to do, I've finished two internships at different locations for my degrees - It's been a successful year in those ways...

I am hoping that 2008 will be better though, as in 'life' will solidify a bit more. In the meantime, all is well though!
