I'm still laughing about a conversation that I overheard yesterday...

The phone rings, and my mom got it. I didn't know who was calling, nor did I reach to answer it. I hear my mom sorta talking and asking questions...and then I hear her say, "Why, are you pregnant!?" And I look up and am like, what the heck?

Then I thought she was on the phone with Dave's mom - and I was like, did you just ask Dave's mom if she's pregnant? And my mom then says, "No. I asked Dave."

hahahahaha.

Turns out, Dave had called my mom asking for a baby gate ("Why? Are you pregnant?" Answer: "No. We got a puppy")

There's also another funny aspect to this. At the craft fair on Saturday, Dave and I saw his mother bonding with the puppy, and asking questions and it was pretty obvious that she really liked that particular puppy. I knew she was planning on going back the next day to see if the puppy was still available, but I didn't press the issue.

On Sunday morning, I was on the phone with Dave while I was cleaning and doing food prep for the father's day party. I asked if his father was around and he replied, "No. He's out doing work" which made total sense since he has his own business. Dave then did his own thing. Ultimately, Dave walked into the kitchen, and voila! a puppy was there. Turns out his father was getting the puppy - not working! Dave had no idea, and that makes me giggle.

So, after he asked my mom about the baby gate, we brought over a 6 piece baby gate system that makes a little pen that we had for Charles as a baby (Charles still is a baby, but still...) I brought a tiger stuffed toy for the baby too. She's super adorable! Dave is like, a big brother/uncle type to this puppy!

I'm pretty sure the name of the new baby is Gracie. Adorable! At the gathering yesterday, we kept talking about little girl dog names - they ranged from Sadie to Ruby Slipper, Scarlett (and then get a little boy Rhett), Freidelich and Paola (Thorsten's suggestions!) and Gracie was the name that all of Dave's family members liked best.

Beagle mutt mix - with some spaniel. Pictures of her are in my previous entry - she looks just like a mini version of their current Great Dane.
