July 1st! Time sure does fly!

Yesterday, Dave and I went shopping at Costco cause he needed a few things. We have obviously both been to Costco before, but we had a blast wandering around and looking. They had really nice bookshelves for $199 and a rocking chair with leather and wood slats that we also liked. It was shocking that there was like, really nice furniture in a Costco! Dave bought two pairs of shorts (Thorsten and Michelle had told him to go there for more shorts), a new earpiece for his phone (he lost his old one) and I bought a book. I had been sitting in Dave's kitchen a few weeks ago reading the Costco magazine (apparently, there is such a thing, and Dave's family receives it). In this magazine, it had book reviews, and I remembered the name of one of the reviews that sounded interesting. In this Costco, they had this book! It's called Through a Glass Darkly, and it was published in 1986. Bookmooch.com didn't have it, so I figured yesterday was the perfect time to get it! It was $9.99. Score!

In case anyone doesn't know, Costco is basically a warehouse that sells goods in bulk. The prices are slightly discounted, but again, it's bulk. You go there for ya know, 8 gallons of corn oil for $10 and stuff like that. 4 lbs of bacon is $11. (Some of the prices I remember from yesterday)

It also made us laugh as we looked at the jewelry case - they had engagement rings (really pretty, too) 1.3 carats for $3000. From what I know from my friends and minimal research, that's like, unheard of! hahaha

After Costco, Dave and I went to visit his friend Brad who works at a Red Lobster. We split the lava chocolate cookie dessert (so yummy!) and I told him to march down to Costco and buy his girlfriend an engagement ring from there! He was like, wow, that is a good price!

Dave and I also played with Gracie outside. She's a little nipper and bit me in various places. I remember Rory used to do that, and it's so annoying.

I still have no idea what is going on this weekend vacation-wise. I guess I'm just going to play it by ear and see what happens.

But Dave and I had a pleasant night yesterday.

101 in 1001 update:

Ha. I don't think I've done anything. I didn't finish my FIT thesis (#1). I am saving money though - so at least that is working partially towards a goal (#49). I started Harry Potter book 4 this past weekend (#92). I don't want to go into detail, but I do have full time employment in the near future (#8). I found out I passed the Chem Exam for FIT (extra goal: #109).

So, things are coming along, but I'm not as pro-active in finishing these goals. I should work on that more. Although I still would like to do all of the goals on that list, some of them have been overshadowed by other things that I am doing that aren't on the list at all. So, yeh. I'll just keep chugging away at the list though!

You know, I read once that Costco's diamonds were Tiffany quality diamonds.

Ha. How funny. I mean, they weren't like, perfect rings in design and what not, but they were totally passable and affordable. I looked on the Costco website, and most of the rings on there are bigger carats and more expensive; the ones in the store were a bit smaller and much more affordable.

I love Costco . . . and Sam's, too! Do you all have Sam's up there? Anyway, I love them both, but there's not one of either one around here close enough to justify paying for their memberships. The money I'd save would be going straight to gas to get there, hah. : )

Ya know .. I've heard of Costco but I've never actually been IN one! That's insane.. 4lbs of bacon and whatnot, gross! It must have been a bit funny to see those really large food items. There's one isle in a local grocery store here that has a few bulk items, and we always joke about buying them, but they're never anything we need anyway and plus - just for the two of us?! You know, like GIGANTIC things of ketchup, and cheerios, and whatever. They still look funny anyway. :) I'm sure it's helpful for large families and restaurants.

I think I'd be a little worried if my boyfriend bought me a ring at costco though, eh?! Still amusing though! You guys don't have Wal-Mart around there do you? I hate them but sometimes things are cheaper there, like paper towels and household cleaners. They sell jewlery there too apparently, but I've never known anyone to actually buy it. That would be scary.

Yeh, the four lbs of bacon is a bit gross! The cooking oil is actually in a way even grosser!

There's no way two of you could go through that much food alone - even buying paper towels in bulk- where could they be stored? hahaha What would you do with 23 extra rolls of paper towels?

They also have candy in bulk. Like, 50 Snickers bars. Or a tub of M&Ms. It's crazy.

The electronics are all good deals though - hard drives, digital cameras, tvs, etc.

I love costco! I always get my big bag of Starbucks coffee lol
I read Through a Glass Darkly when it first came out, I loved it, and there's a prequel or sequel or something also.
