Yesterday ending up being quite the fun day after work! I went home and ate dinner with my family. Then, my father and I went swimming in the pool and my mom and Alyson sat on the patio out by us. We were all just chatting and joking around and it was fun! My dad and I had a lot of fun in the pool as well - the water is pretty warm - it's about 78 degrees - and it's a 23,000 gallon pool and it has rained here lately, and the pool is not heated. So, that's pretty good for a large pool!

I then got out and got ready to meet my friend Jennifer. We chatted about life and updated each other on what has been happening since we last hung out. We laughed a lot, and it was great seeing her! We used to hang out more often because we would meet for lunch in NYC while I was on break between classes at FIT. It's been about a month and half since I last saw her, and that's too long!

I also talked with some clients and did some edits. Things are going well there too!

Today is my last day of work for the work week. I plan on having a great relaxing weekend, by the pool! I also want to clean the entire house (for fun) and get up to date on my laundry. I'm not too far behind on laundry, but I would like get it all out of the way.

While I was out last night, I bought 4 new books. I had been collecting gift certificates from various events, and figured this was a good time to spend them. I went to the Barnes and Noble "beach reading" sale table and bought the following books - each was only $4.98 or $5.98 and they are all hardcover:

No Nest for the Wicket - Murder mystery
Ballroom on Magnolia Street - The cover said it was the "Best Maeve Binchy book not written by Maeve Binchy" and Maeve Binchy is on my favorite authors. So I figured I'd give it a shot
Second Honeymoon - a story about a family and the issues they face as the children grow up and move out - seemed interesting.
Liberating Paris - I read the inside cover quickly - from what I understand, a daughter marries the son of the childhood sweetheart of her father. As in, the father was in love with a woman, and then their two children get married.

Funny how they call it "beach reading" and I may or may not even get to the beach this summer! But I figured they were all good prices, basically all free with my gift certificates and it would keep me busy for a while. I also have to finish Harry Potter 4 that I am in the middle of now, and I just bought Through the Glass Darkly last week at Costco. I also have other piles of books that I need to get around to as well - including the last book in the Agatha Raisin mystery series. I'm putting that one off though because after I finish it, I'll just be sad that the series is over! It is 18 books long, and I don't want it to end!!

I will be sure to mention each book as I read them and say whether they were decent or not. However, I'm fairly easy to please when it comes to reading. It just has to be mildly entertaining and I'm happy.

Last summer, I went to the MSU library and took out classics - like, Jane Eyre and The Picture of Dorian Grey and The Great Gatsby. (Am I butchering titles and spellings? Probably) Last year I summer I wrote in here about reading Dorian Grey and then mentioned I liked other books by Thornton Wilder. Um. Someone had to point out to me that Dorian was written by Oscar Wilde. Or somehow I mixed up those two. Oops. As one who likes to read and has had a decent education, I make some really dumb comments and dumb mistakes. Meh...Whatever.

Later on tonight, I am hanging out with Jen R. We had discussed going in the pool...

It's been a nice social week for me! I saw Cynthia on campus, Stephanie came over the other night, I was with Jenn V last night and tonight I will see Jen R! Very fun!

Tomorrow starts a 3 day weekend...woohoo!

Pam: I just saw you commented a while ago and I never responded: BookMooch.com is where I trade books. You list your books, and if someone wants one, you sent it to them and you pay the postage. Then, when there is a book you want, you "order" it and the sender then pays postage for you. My father joined in an effort to get rid of all of the books in our house that we did not need anymore. We kinda knew we'd be paying to get rid of books, but at least other people would enjoy them...they could be recycled or donated, but this is at least a way to get SOME back...which kinda defeated our original purpose, but whatever... The account says we've given away 50 books and have received 37...so we are still ahead on getting rid of books, and it also makes us a fair user since we are exporting more than trying to get free books...haha

Enjoy!

Also: booksaremyhabit I'm looking forward to reading Through the Glass Darkly - glad you enjoyed it, hope I do too! :)
