Wow! That is so cute. You should make a lot of them and sell them on ebay or etsy.com.

Thanks! Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to. The pattern is not my own, so I cannot make sweaters for resale. However, it was a bit of a pain in the ass to do as well! haha I *might* consider making one for another close friend/relative - but beyond that, I don't know if I'd necessarily want to make this pattern again! I find part of the fun is trying new ones, so we'll see! However, if someone were having a girl, I'm sure this would be sooooo cute with pink and white checks and a more "girly" body color!!

SO cute!! Are the sheep duplicate stitch or intarsia?

Intarsia. Thanks!!

Wait. The sheep bodies are intarsia. The faces and feet are counted cross stitch style x's. They should have been duplicate stitch, but my duplicate stitches looked wonky.

I started it on like, Valentine's Day and just finished it the other day. However, I took HUGE breaks between now and then. For instance, if it is for a girl, there are flowers to be added to the tops of the blades of grass. I had no idea if Alyson was having a boy or girl, so I had to wait for that. Also, the girl version would have pink and white checks. I was *thisclose* to just making the girl version cause I was 99.99% sure it was a girl...good thing I didn't!!!

So, it took "forever." But - if I had to do it again and knew the sex and was able to devote an hour or two of knitting each day/every two days, it would probably take a week or two. All of the other sweaters I have done lately have taken about two weeks with fairly steady work. This one was a bit more complicated. But oh so worth it!

it is so cute i want to learn how to knit! was it hard to learn? how long did it take you to learn?

It's really not difficult at all. There are really only two "stitches" and how they are used/applied is what makes patterns. The shaping occurs when for instance, you have a row of 30 stitches - and then you increase 2 stitches for the next 10 rows (that will make it get larger)

So - in essence, you just have to repeatedly count how many stitches there are per row and use one (or both!) of the two stitches in knitting.

To just learn the basic "knit" or "purl" stitch, it is not difficult at all. A good first project would be a scarf which is just many many rows of the "knit" stitch with no increases or decreases. After mastering that, you are then able to take on (semi) more complicated projects.

If there are any local shops near you, they could teach you the basic knit and purl stitches. I'm sure there are also tutorials online. (here is one I found on a quick google search: http://www.knittinghelp.com/videos/knitting-tips)

You'd probably do best having someone who knows how to knit set up a project and teach you the basics.

My mom has been knitting forever, and one day my friend Tim and I were in a craft store and found fun yarn. We each purchased yarn and needles and brought it to my mom. She then taught us how to knit within the afternoon and we made our scarves. So, it isn't difficult. I was in early college - and I was pretty shocked that I hadn't taken an interest to it earlier - especially since my mom knits!

So it isn't very difficult. Good luck!
