We visited a real conservation laboratory in the city as part of my advanced conservation class, and I had a lot of fun. We worked on flat woven textiles, discussed all the different types of weaving in flat textiles (such as rugs, and areas of the world with the various types) and made our own practice looms to hand in different weaving styles.

Then, we each got to reweave portions of beautiful rugs in their collection. For some reason, I just thought it was the neatest thing! I really enjoyed picking yarn that matched and setting it up, and then filling in the area that was missing. So cool!

Also, on the compound where the lab was, there are free roaming peacocks!! Coolest.thing.ever. Where else in NYC are there peacocks just wandering around??

Today I worked on a lot of different things for my classes which was pretty neat. I sketched a bright blue satin jacket with a pigeon front (the s-curve type figure) fromt he 1880's/90's. It was beautiful. I still need to sketch the matching skirt, but at least I got the jacket finished!!

Stephanie stopped over after work last night and we hung out and talked about life. That was nice.

I'm going to go work on more homework. Wowee.

Wow, that white one is so pretty! I think the last time I saw peacocks just roaming around was Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, where they make sherry yummmmmmmmmmm.
