A bit of an update, cause I'm in the mood:

I started my online fashion design class officially today, and handed in my first pre-test assignment - our basic interpretation of the figure. Sopposedly we will improve by the end of the class, so I thought it would be interesting to post my sketch now, and to maybe show my progress throughout the class? Could be fun, no?

We were given different outfits to choose from, and this is my basic interpretation of the female human form in the outfit I chose:

Clearly it is not a great masterpiece work of art, but it at least looks human! haha

I also thought that I should share pictures from my family's Christmas party last Sunday.

We do a white elephant recycled gift exchange pool for fun. Boy, it's fun. There were some pretty tragic, funny gifts: Moose in a can (canned moose), 12 champagne glasses with some broken, a Christmas bowl, a UK CD of Spice Girl wannabes, The Polar Express DVD, 5 lb weights, an eagle paperweight, a large crayon piggybank, a jar of cactus jelly, glow sticks, a blue plastic pig piggybank, a perfume mix (White diamonds, Prince Matchebelli Wind Song, Avon Musk, Avon something pink and Suave bath gel), and some other doozies. It was funny. I got the Christmas bowl. Dave got the pop UK CD, Ellie got the Polar Express.

Before images from the party, this is an old family image. My mom's father had 7 sisters. Here he is with the oldest sisters. My sister looked exactly like the girl second from the left when she was younger. Then again, I'm pretty sure most Dutch babies basically look like all of these children... This picture is from around 1923 or 1924. These relatives are how we are all related, obviously. (My mother is cousins with Carolee and John (who are siblings) We were at Carolee's house, Carolee's son is Joe. John's children are Tom, Ellie, Liz and Jenni. The boy in this image is my mom's father. The girl who looks like Alyson, second from the left, Grace, is Carolee's and John's mother.)

Me, Ellie and Dave

My generation of cousins. Ellie, Jenni, Liz, Joe and Joe's wife Michelle.
Front: Alyson's husband Jim, Alyson, me and Dave.

Joe and Michelle missed the memo to wear grey, brown or white. (jk. But it is funny)

Sarah opening the cactus jelly. She thought it was a candle, and then was like. "Oh. It's not. It's jelly."

This made me laugh soooo hard. My sister donated a tea light candle thing that had been wrapped about 10 times by Stephanie. I knew it was wrapped a lot, but Liz didn't expect it. She kept opening, and there was always another layer of paper below it! It was really funny. At least I thought so.

And since I laughed, she dumped all the paper on my lap.

Ellie, Jenni, Liz and I. And Joe's son Evan.

We had a fun time together and those gift exchanges are so hysterical. It's amazing the kind of crap that surfaces at them!!

Boots, I think. She wore them outside when she went home, so I'm going with boots. They're super cute, I agree!!

How fun. Is your sweater from Anthropologie? Either way it's cute.

Yup! They also had it in green, but I really liked the grey! The hem is uneven and it buttons on an angle. It's very fun.
