I'm not in a sour mood anymore about life and money. Go figure. I think part of it has to do with the fact that tomorrow is payday, and my mom worked on my taxes today (she's wonderful) and I'm getting quite a nice return. Woohoo!! No more panic.

In my Easter basket my mom surprised me with tickets to the Idina Menzel Concert at the George Street Playhouse. It was wonderful. This NJ location is her first concert venue, and I believe she is going on tour (Amy, Laura - go if she is playing near you!) She was so funny and it was a lot of fun. Taye was in the audience. It was a playhouse venue, so it was really close and personal. She told all these funny stories of how she started as a wedding singer before she landed RENT and even brought along her 1985 wedding singer beaded dress. And, her encore was a Defying Gravity remix that was AMAZING. I saw her in Wicked on Kristin Chenoweth's last performance, and she was amazing then. She was just as amazing last night!

Bit of personal information, which is random for me since I'm not always one for sharing:
I also have this close affinity with Wicked in general because my ex-boyfriend was a professional musician who played piano for Wicked. He had access to the house seats at random and was even at the original CA opening of the show before it came to NYC. So, although he's now married and we are both at totally differnt points in our lives, it's still nice to think back to when I first was introduced to Wicked. It was a pleasant relationship and we parted on friendly terms, but as a result, I became an Idina/Wicked/Stephen Schwartz fan. Also, he has introduced me to Stephen Schwartz which was amazing as well. Joe and I met years ago when I was dancing for Surflight and he was the musical director - and Mr. Schwartz came to support Joe and see one of the shows, and I was able to meet him after one of our performances. He's so talented and I'm a big fan.

So, thank you mommy! My sister, mom and I all went together and it was a fun girls' night out.

The really funny thing is in the lobby waiting for the concert to begin, I ran into a bunch of people I knew from my performing days. It was so nice seeing them since I haven't been performing with Phoenix lately because of grad school. So, they filled me in on all the gossip of the people I knew from dancing there.

Here is a picture of Tina Kaye, myself and Chris Pica after the concert. Tina had an Idina bag that she wanted to get signed that came along with the CD. I miss them so much and I want to do more shows with them! We were all in Jesus Christ Superstar together, and Tina was in AIDA with me. She was Amneris in AIDA and Mary Magdelene in JCC. Chris was King Herod in JCC and we had a really fun dance number together. He also made rehearsals a blast!

Also, I wanted to share pictures of the scrapbook pages I made the other night. They're blurry, but whatever.

So. That is an update on my life. My modern textiles midterm went well, and I'm so glad that it is now over. Tomorrow is Dave's 28th birthday. I will be making a cake and/or cupcakes for him tomorrow. I will also be working on my Decorative Arts paper/presentation on diners and filing my taxes so I can get my sweet bonus asap.

This morning I got a lot of work accomplished on my 18th Century Calash Bonnet Conservation Project. I actually am at the point now where I feel as if it will be finished at some point. For a while there, it was moving along kinda slowly and I didn't think I would ever be done. Now, although I still have a lot more to go, the end is a bit closer in my sight.

OMG! That's awesome!!!! I totally did not know that about your ex. (Well, how would I? LOL!) But that is awesome... And I totally did not know you went to Kristin's last... That must have been amazing... And very emotional, hehe. I know Idina's going to be in San Diego. It's a bit of a drive (about three hours with no traffic), but I'm going to try to make it :)
I'm glad you're feeling better :)

Thanks! Yup - Wicked is one of my all-time favorites, and I have so many dif. memories associated with it. Kinda strange how that works, actually! hahaha
Def. go see it. Tickets were inexpensive here, but sold out in like 45 minutes.

AHH! Sounds amazing! I saw Idina perform at Virgin Megastore when her album came out and she was wonderful! I love how candid and honest she is when she's talking.

1980. Good year. He was in Alyson's class at CHS and I knew of him, but I didn't actually *know* him, although I did have a crush on him! (Go figure.)

And I just make enough pages until each book is filled. It generally is just a few pages per event. In the book I am still on now, the first page is 4th of July 2007. So I get about a year's worth of pictures in each book.

haha I remember when you were dating Joe! I can't remember who I was dating at that same time though, kind of funny.

And cute scrapbook pages! I'm still intending to post some of mine, even sprung for a new camera after breaking my old one for the third time, but have already lost the USB cable and charger...At least I know where the software is!

Hahaha - yup - old times.
I'd love to see your pages! I like to see how other people organize their photos. I know what I do, but it's great to see the work of others!!! :)
