I really could care less about the actual wedding, but being a fashion major, I love this:

Jenna Bush's bridesmaids are in different dresses, in different colors. In my sister's wedding, the maids also had different dresses in different colors.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the 5th from the left, 8th from the left, and the pinkish one on the far right.

The kicker about the Bush wedding? Not one dress is strapless. I am pretty much anti-strapless dresses. It's just not a flattering cut on the majority of the population, and I am thrilled to see that designers are finally getting away from strapless as the major wedding fashion trend. I wore a strapless dress to the senior prom my junior year of high school - and it was the big thing then (with a big, full skirt) I'd like to think that my wedding dress will look nothing like my prom dress! (not that it wasn't a beautiful dress - I just want something different!!!)

Alyson's girls:

I have to admit, I love the way it looks. Each girl picked a dress in a style that worked with their body type, in a color that they enjoyed wearing. The prices of the dresses varied based upon each girl's budget and what they could afford. It worked beautifully.

Here I am in my strapless glory:

The reason I chose it was because it was different although it was strapless. I liked the ruching on the bodice. I like the asymmetrical waistline with the sash at the side. I'm basically just justifying why I wore strapless although I have a "thing" against it...haha

So yeh. Article located here on the designer for the Bush dresses. Quote from the article: "One way to be more fashion-forward is to stay away from strapless — not everyone can wear it. There's not one strapless dress in the (Bush dresses)."

So, I'm happy to see someone in the media is doing something different for a wedding. Sweet.

If I get married, I have no idea what I will wear. Hell, it might even be strapless (I hope not though). However, I really like the look of all of the Bush dresses. The overall image is really attractive.

I apologize to anyone who owns/has ever worn a strapless dress. They're just not for me. I have funny skinny shoulders and fairly small boobs. Not attractive. I did wear a strapless dress in my sister's wedding though, but the majority of what I had to choose from was strapless! For Summer '05 weddings, Lavaro, Jim Hjelm, Vera Wang, and Amsale were pretty much inundated with strapless dresses. So I went Vera Wang. And I must admit, I did like it, hahaha. I'm such a hypocrite...

Strapless only seems to work for actresses when they attend award shows. Sigh.

What really bugs me is strapless shirts. It's like wrapping an oversized washcloth around your upper body.

I totally agree!

I love that, it looks like a rainbow of pretty! my faves are 7th and 8th from the left, and 3rd in from the right.

I tend to choose styles that I know will flatter my body type. I also look crappy in strapless! I have the same scrawny shoulders and no boobs. You and I have the same body type but you're like a foot taller! :P When I design my underwear line for Bcups and smaller, if you fit in that range I will openly welcome your suggestions. (It's one of my pursuits after I get through fashion design school. Cause you know, there is just a CRAPPY selection of bra's for small boobed women and I get really REALLY frustrated when I go bra shopping. All the pretty ones are Bs and Cs and bigger and I feel sooo left out. [sigh]) Well anyway. Just one of my dreams that i hope to make a reality someday.

I didn't know you were a fashion major. I probably should have known that, or at least guessed it. Basically, we are partly the same person!

Also, I hate to break it to you...but I'm a B. hahaha

So make sure you design pretty bras for Bs too!!!

Yeah I was thinking of doing A's and B's but no larger than that. :) Gotta have SOME advantage right!

I will be a fashion major once I start at the art school in June. I'm currently getting some lib. arts courses out of the way and in June I start with the fashion stuff (transferring there). I'm going for Fashion Design & Visual merchandising! Starting with associates then going to see how broke I am after that when deciding whether to continue on to my bachelor's! Cause honestly who knows what direction life is going to take me in over the next couple of years!

I think you look good in strapless dresses but the vast majority of people do not. If they have any extra flesh it hangs over the top [ewwwwww], mashes down most people's bustlines, and if you have broad shoulders, it makes you look like a linebacker. Not really a trait most women would WANT to emphasize [I would think....?].

I also really like each member of the wedding party wearing a slightly different dress/color. And I love your prom dress- I have a couple formals next month and I can't find any dresses I like, I'm so frustrated!
