Things have been crazy!

I'm very close to finishing the conservation treatment on my bonnet! I'm so thrilled! I have finished placing all the stabilization fabric and pinning all the sections. I'm now on the final part of the project where I have put the lining inside the bonnet, and now it just needs to be stitched in. I think it will take one more working session and then it will be completed. But, it's really coming along well! I worked on it for 7 hours today!!

After working all day, in the evening was FIT Senior Night - carnival. My friend Kathleen and I went, and then our friend Whitney joined us as well. We ate cotton candy, zeppoli donuts, got hot dogs, chips and sausage, peppers and onions (for free!). I played the "Money Pit" game where you are in a wind tunnel with fake and real money and won $15. (Sweet!) Whitney played the game where you hit with a hammer and see how high your hit goes and won fake tattoos. I slingshot a frog into a bathtub thing and won a little stuffed lizard. All in all, it was an exciting evening! I needed something mindless and fun after sewing for hours and hours, so that went well.

Yesterday Monica, Julianna and I went to H&M while on break between classes. That was also a pleasant distraction! In our evening class, we were writing catalog entries for garments that our teacher owned - meaning we were allowed to try them on! Rule #1 of conservation and history of fashion is you can never try anything on that is owned by a museum or by a private client - so in this case, trying on garments was allowed to help describe the cut and placement of the garment - I tried on a 1950's strapless knee length gown with boning, and it was fun! Good evening.

When I was on the train coming home, the only thing I could think about was how I wanted to go visit Dave. I got home, and basically collapsed. I feel like such a bad girlfriend cause seeing him would have made me happy and I sorta told him I was going to stop by - but then didn't. I think he'll understand that I'm under a lot of stress right now though!

Oh! Mandi - last night you were in my dream! You, me, my mom and Dave's mom went shopping, and then had a craft night! And Dave's mom doesn't really do crafts, so it was kinda funny! Just thought I'd share.

That carnival sounds fun! they had a wind tunnel thing like that in my elementary school, except instead of just money/fake money they put like prize coupons in there too, so it was really fun! Or so I heard.. my ticket never got called to try it out. Booo. Lol. Oh well. My sister did it though and she said it was great! I believe her!
