Things have been busy here!

Yesterday, I did some freelance web work. I also went to the pool store with my mom, got the water tested, and added all the chemicals that were needed (mostly water hardener). I then vacuumed the pool, and it was so hot outside! I then was the first in the family to GO IN the pool cause I just couldn't take it. Way too hot. The pool is beautiful. I'm definitely going to be using it sooooo much this summer! Alyson and I also lounged on the deck chairs out there and got some sun and chatted.

I then went food shopping with Alyson, and bought the ingredients needed for our Father's Day party. As long as the weather cooperates today, after lunch, we are hosting a pool party and bbq for my dad and Dave's father. It's our annual tradition, and I'm calling it the "4th Annual Blackowski/Thelin Father's Day Extravaganza." A lot of my friends are in relationships where their parents have barely met the boyfriend, forget the parents! For some reason, everyone getting along is important to me, so I'm thrilled that we all hang out together, and often!

I then started to do some baking and food preparation for the party. I am in charge of cookies, cupcakes and a jello salad. Dave had given me a cookie recipe - a woman at his work had made him these cookies as a thank you for helping, and he apparently loved them. The recipe ended up making like, 5 1/2 dozen cookies! It's insane! They're double chocolate - unsweetened baking chocolate with semi-sweet chips, covered in powdered sugar, that sorta crackles as they're baked. They're realllly good.

I made fun-fetti cupcakes with vanilla icing. And my jello is my standard holiday dish - raspberry jello with orange juice, cool whip, pineapple and marshmallows. I make it for basically every holiday gathering/party.

I don't remember the order of my day - I think I actually went to a nearby craft fair in a park with Dave, his mother, Michelle and Thorsten before I started baking. We walked around for a while, and I bought my father homemade sweet potato cookies from a booth there for Father's Day. Dave's mom fell in love with a puppy that is up for adoption. Ever since Daisy passed away, they have been looking into new dogs. The one that was there "spoke" to her, so we'll see what happens!

Then after I got home from the fair was when I did all my food making. Dave went to help Michelle with her Save the Date cards for her upcoming wedding.

Dave then came over in the evening bearing the movie 27 dresses and a bucket of popcorn. We didn't do the popcorn cause there were about 6 dozen cookies and 2 dozen cupcakes out, but it was still cute. My entire family watched it with us, and it was cute. Not the best movie ever or anything, but it was a movie that I had been wanting to watch for a while, so I'm glad I was able to!

Then after the movie Dave and I just hung out. I'm now waiting for the weather to clear cause it appears to be a little iffy. The weather channel and weather.com claim that it will be nice, and the clouds will clear, with a small percentage chance of rain. So, here's hoping for the best! I love hosting parties, and I'm so excited that this year, we can host with a pool!!

I'm going to go do some last minute cleaning and whatnot.

Can I be invited to this pool party? PLEASE??

BTW, I didn't really care for 27 Dresses like most women. Kathrine Hegal's character was seriously getting on my nerves with her spineless self. UGH lol But the whole part about the brides telling the bridesmaids they can rewear the dress was hilarious!

Hope your Father's day celebration goes on without a hitch! We're not doing anything special. I haven't talked to my father in a couple of days. I'll probably call him but that's about it.
