Troy, Virginia

Stephanie fell in love with a Japanese Chin puppy on puppyfind.com called Sweetboy a few days before the wedding, and purchased him. On Monday, after our LBI trip, we took another road trip to Troy, Virginia to pick up the baby. She has named him Gizmo, and he is absolutely adorable!

While in Virginia, we took a 2 day trip, and went out to eat (Outback, yum), stayed overnight in Charlottesville, visited the hotel pool, and the next day, we drove out to Troy to get the puppy. On the way home, we stopped at the Luray caverns. I remember being at the caverns in about 1991, so it was really neat going back again. I remembered the setup of the museum and shops around the cavern, so it was neat seeing just how good my memory from 14 years ago was!!

Stephanie with Gizmo for the first time in the breeder's kitchen.

Stephanie and I in front of the Luray Caverns sign. She carried Gizmo through the caverns in his little carry bag. I find this funny cause in 1991, we carried our Boston Terrier, Kasey, through the caverns cause he would have overheated in the car. The caverns are about a mile and a quarter. My poor parents - I can think of nothing worse than walking through a long, dark cave with two small children and a 30 lb. Boston Terrier!!

Stephanie, (Gizmo) and I in the cavern. I look like a carrot. I was wearing a green shirt, and the only jacket thing I brought on the trip was an orange Juicy couture terry hoodie. Oops. I also only brought along one pair of flip flops, and no other shoes. Oops.

It was a great trip, and fun to pick up her new puppy!

As some of you probably know, my sister's room in this house is quite larger than my own (even though mine is the house's original master bedroom, so I can't even complain about the size of my room. We have just done so much construction on the house that mine is smallest now) She has moved out of the house now, so I get her room. Her room also has a HUGE walk in closet that will soon be graced with my collection of Anthropologie clothing...haha. I am in the process of repainting her room (she had a bright yellow, not my thing.) It will be baby blue with white trim. The bench by the bay window is a pale green, and the backs of the built in bookshelves are a deeper blue. The floor is a neat pergo white wood finish, with pastel flowers randomly placed throughout painted on. It's really neat. I should be finished painting the entire room in a few more days, and I'm in the process of moving all my crap in. My current bedroom will become storage for a while as construction will take place on the upper most level of the house, putting in more bedrooms and bathrooms (future room(s) for grandchildren, guests, etc. - one room might eventually become my permanent bedroom with an attached bathroom - we'll see.) So things are a bit chaotic here, but kinda fun. Tomorrow, Stephanie and I are going to move more stuff from my old bedroom to the new.

Time for bed!
